The Mersey Forest's Green Streets programme continues to go from strength to strength in Knowsley, Sefton and St.Helens, improving the appearance and community cohesion of urban areas through the planting of street trees with local residents.
Following last year's planting of 120 new street trees in Halewood, North Huyton and North Kirkby in Knowsley; 123 new trees in the Bedford Queens area of Bootle in Sefton; and 67 new street trees in the Four Acres area of St.Helens, the programme is continuing its work to tackle a range of social, health, environmental and economic issues.
Green Streets is working in partnership with the residents of Northwood, Knowsley MBC staff and a number of key funders to deliver more trees to Knowsley neighbourhoods bereft of greenery. Northwood Allotment Group already has a thriving allotment site but wanted to see improvements to their local croft and to the street scene for all residents to enjoy.
In Sefton, Green Streets is working in partnership with the residents of Litherland and Seaforth, Sefton MBC staff and a number of key funders to deliver more trees to neighbourhoods bereft of street greenery.
Linacre Bridge Neighbourhood Action Group are already involved with a number of other community initiatives but wanted to see improvements to their street scene which would link residential properties to the local parks and the canal. In Seaforth the Seaforth Residents Action Group want street trees along their high street linking residential areas to local green space and shops.
In St.Helens, Green Streets is working again in partnership with residents, St.Helen's Council, re:new Four Acre, Helena Partnerships staff and a number of key funders to deliver more trees to this neighbourhood bereft of street greenery.
Four Acres Residents Group are already involved in looking at greening their immediate neighbourhood but wanted to see improvements to the wider street scene which would link residential properties to the newly improved local green spaces.
