St.Albert's school helps launch major new woodland on their doorstep

04 November 2009

Pupils from Stockbridge Village's St. Albert's Catholic Primary School have helped to launch a major new woodland.

The children planted an ornamental pear tree with Capital of Culture board member Phil Redmond as the celebratory first tree of the new Mab Lane Community Woodland in West Derby.

The school also helped to host a community consultation event to involve local residents in the creation of the Mab Lane woodland. The school was the venue for a community drop-in day to keep people from the area up to date on the plans for the new woodland and to help them have their say.

The Liverpool City Council woodland will provide a cultural legacy for the Capital of Culture year 2008 and will span 23 hectares, the size of more than 30 football pitches.
