We have a long track record of working with academics and researchers.
Over the years, we have developed strong relationships with many universities. This has included: being partners and stakeholders on research projects, being interviewees, co-funding student dissertations and theses, hosting student placements, employing recent graduates, academically evaluating our projects, co-authoring academic papers, giving guest lectures, and presenting at conferences. We are keen to build on and develop our links with academic partners.
The Mersey Forest is a unique and valuable resource for researchers, with 30 years of experience of working with communities and partners across Cheshire and Merseyside, and implementing and monitoring change. We are working with academic partners to set up an Idea Lab as a new centre of excellence for environmental research and innovation. Together, we can turn The Mersey Forest into a living laboratory, analysing our long term monitoring data and actively researching alongside our delivery.
Academic partners will see the impact of their research in helping us to innovate, learn, test and improve our approaches to establishing, looking after, and growing a culture of trees, woods and other habitats. Together, we can improve the value of our work to people, nature, and climate.
We are happy to assist students where we can. This includes through student projects and placements. We can suggest project ideas that would be of interest to us, and discuss your own projects and requests for information, as well as any student placement opportunities.
Please get in touch if you can’t find the information you are after, to discuss project ideas, or to join our Idea Lab. If you would like our input to a student project, then please include a summary of your research, your university, and the name and e-mail address of your supervisor. For any student projects that we help with, we would welcome:
